Good Vibe Veg

Growing community through community growing

A market garden in the Vale of Porlock, where we grow nutritious and seasonal produce to fill weekly veg boxes for our members.  By buying from us you are supporting nature-friendly growing,  and enabling social, education and well-being opportunities for and with the local community.

Key features include…

  • No-dig and regenerative agriculture for healthier soils and to lock in carbon
  • organic principles, seeds and plants, and peat-free composts
  • people power!  (minimal use of machinery)
  • no single-use plastic and minimal packaging (recycled, re-used or biodegradable and compostable)
  • Nature-friendly growing
  • Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) – see below
  • community involvement – reconnecting people with nature and where their food comes from, growing for and with the community
  • Local food for local people – very small target area to reduce food miles
  • Seasonal  food – we grow what we can when we can in our local climate and conditions

Community Supported Agriculture is…

… a partnership between farmers and consumers in which the responsibilities, risks and rewards of farming are shared. It is a model of farming which addresses concerns about the lack of transparency, sustainability and resilience of our food system, and is one of the most radical ways that we can re-take control and ownership of our food system. It aims to reconnect people with how and where their food is grown. More info at https://communitysupportedagriculture.org.uk/

What we offer…

  • Veg shares (weekly veg boxes) through a membership scheme
  • Volunteering opportunities for all (Fridays 10am-4pm)
  • Educational visits for schools and groups
  • Community – events and regular donations to the WS Food Cupboard
  • A stall at the seasonal produce market at Horner Farm, and wholesale to a few local businesses

We believe…

that fresh, nutritious, local food should be available to everyone that food production should not be at the expense of the planet or local environment in building a resilient local community to face the climate crisis

Veg Shares: How does it work?

We sell most of our lovely produce as weekly veg shares through a membership scheme which is paid for by  a monthly subscription.

Veg shares are simply veg boxes but we call them veg shares as they are a share of our weekly harvest, with the contents varying through the seasons.

There are three share sizes available, and we have several collection points you can collect from.  All the information you need can be found in our FAQs (link to page), and you can sign up here.

We produce weekly vegetable boxes (we call them a 'veg shares') for each member who subscribes.  Every member gets to provide input to what gets grown and how the project is run. Each member supports a direct to table model of fresh, high quality produce.
Headshot
The project follows no-dig regenerative growing methods, including peat-free compost. We avoid single-use plastic or packaging and recycle as much as possible. We observe the seasons and grow what the conditions and climate allow.

Good Vibe Veg is a partnership between ourselves and the volunteers, and you the consumers where the risks and rewards of farming are shared. We believe that fresh nutritious local food should be available to everyone.

Help us make this a success, buy your own share of our produce, visit one of our seasonal markets, volunteer your time or make a donation.
